The testing dates will be as follows:

Date Time Location
Tuesday, January 12, 2010 06:00pm - 10:00pm Physics Room 176

Registration

Pre-register

Registration closes 24 hours prior to the exam date. No students will be accepted after registration is closed.

Each test out exam may only be taken once.

Students must bring: a Photo ID and a completed 231 form signed by an advisor!

Important: Passing the Test-Out Exams for 17200 or 27200 does not by itself earn corresponding credits for 17200 or 27200. You will still have to satisfy the laboratory requirements in addition by either presenting evidence of the satisfactory completion of a college-level physics laboratory in the corresponding subject area (such as an AP laboratory or dual-credit laboratory) or taking and passing a corresponding 1-credit laboratory course in this Physics Department.

If you have any questions, please call or email Carol Buuck.

Thank you,

Topics to review for PHYS 272: Calculus-based physics course using concepts of electric and magnetic fields and an atomic description of matter to describe polarization, fields produced by charge distributions, potential, electrical circuits, magnetic forces, induction, and related topics, leading to Maxwell's equations and electromagnetic radiation and an introduction to waves and interference. 3-D graphical simulations and numerical problem solving by computer are employed throughout.

The test-out exam does not include computer simulations etc.

Suggestion: You may consider reviewing the text "Matter & Interactions II" by Chabay|Sherwood

Calculators: May only use a one-line display non-graphing, non-programmable calculator.
