Sem. 1, 2, 3.
PHYS 696 consists of a series of talks focusing on research being conducted by professors in the Department of Physics. These talks serve several purposes. They will broaden your view of physics as you learn in some detail about the many different research areas pursued within the department. They will also give you the opportunity to meet faculty in an informal setting and ask questions of them regarding their own career path, their research program, etc. Finally, it is my hope that these seminars will help you make an informed decision regarding your own field of research for the doctorate degree. Students are expected to attend all of the Monday night seminars. One unexcused absence, however, will be permitted. More than one unexcused absence will result in a no-pass. I will provide cookies for your enjoyment, but I will leave it to you to bring your beverage of choice (within reason!).
