Lab Final Quiz and Last Lab
The lab final quiz will be held the first 30 minutes of lab during the week of Nov 30 to Dec 3. This is the week following Thanksgiving Break.
The lab final quiz will be accumulative and follow a format similar to the lab midterm quiz. Also like the midterm, there will be a review sheet posted Nov. 23 under 'Quiz Reviews' on the course website and a review session held the night of your lab to help you prepare. Your TA will have more details during lab this week.
Finally, Nov 30 - Dec 3 is the last week of lab. Your last lab, assigned by your TA this week, will be to complete the web based Tour of the Solar System lab found in the lab manual and bring it with you completed to lab the night of your final quiz. Again, your TA will have details concerning the Tour of the Solar System lab this week.
Lab Schedule Durng the Week of Thanksgiving

Policy Change: Attendance for Lectures
In order to give some incentive to those students who regularly attend the lectures of this course, beginning from Lecture 17 (Monday, Nov. 2), all students who attend the lectures will receive 3 extra credit points each lecture.
There will be 10 more lectures, so a student can earn up to 30 bonus points which can move your letter grade one level up (e.g., B– to B) for most of you. Recall that the maximum possible total score for this course is 750 points.
There will be no make-up for this extra credit for any reason, because students will not be penalized by absences.

No Lab the Week of October Break for All Nights
During the week of October Break, Oct. 12 - Oct. 15, there will be no lab for any night, this includes the Wednesday and Thursday night labs.

Transferred Lab Scores Now in the CHIP Gradebook
If you have previously taken Astr 263 or 264 and requested your previous total to be transferred, you can now log into CHIP to view your score.
Once you have logged into CHIP, your previous score can be found under 'Old Lab Score'.
Please note that only your previous total is transferred and not your previous individual scores. As the semester progresses, you may notice that you are recieving zeros for this semester's nightly scores. This is ok because your previous total will automatically be used at the end of the semester.
Lab Group Assignments
As discussed last week, each night is divided into three groups and you are assigned to a group/TA alphabetically. The room that your group uses will change each week, but you will always have the same TA.
Each week on your scheduled lab night, you need to arrive early to PHYS 223 where a sign will be posted on the door stating where each group, listed alphabetically, is meeting and what they will be doing.
The sign will be posted by 4pm of the afternoon of your lab night as well as a message sent out through CHIP in order for you to plan ahead.
