ITaP Exchange 2007 Migration Information

Now that the ITaP Exchange 2007 Migration process has started, please see the link below for information how this change affects you.

ITaP Exchange Upgrade

Exchange 2007 conversions start officially on Sept 8. Migration of all mailboxes is likely to take six weeks, and the order in which they are done is pretty random. Each mailbox takes about 30-45 minutes depending on size and once notified, users should be off of Exchange during the migration. 1 GB quotas go into effect with the migration.

Additional disk space can be purchased at a cost of $55.30 / GB / year.

Physics Web Server upgraded

On Wed, March 18, 2009 the Physics web server was migrated to modern hardware running upgraded software. In this process the web server software was upgraded from Apache 1.3.27 to 2.2.11.

Beware! There are some configuration syntax changes associated with this change that could affect users with custom .htaccess files. Please refer to the Apache 2.2 documentation here.

PCN Documentation Upgrade

As of February 2, 2009, PCN has pushed live a new documentation system - the PCN Wiki. The new system replaces our old Faq-O-Matic documentation pages.

Please visit our new documentation for reference before contacting PCN. Most likely your issue has already been resolved and an answer is available there quickly. As we find other issues that would be useful for display we will add them as appropriate. If you find information that may be dated, feel free to let PCN know so that we can update our documents with more relevant information.

Phase-out of NFS access to DXUL/fortress.rcac

In order to improve its stability and availability, RCAC will be phasing
out NFS access to the DXUL archival storage system running on
fortress.rcac.purdue.edu over the next 12 months. You have received this
letter because our records indicate some of the systems you manage NFS
mount this archive. Please take a moment to review the information below,
and feel free to forward this note to other system managers you think
should know about it. As always, please contact rcac-help@purdue.edu if
you have questions or comments.
