PCN Online Windows Resources
Overview
PCN has resources available to all Microsoft Windows users. However these programs are only guaranteed by PCN to work on PCN maintain computers. If your computer is not supported by PCN you may still uses these resources but only use these resources at your own risk. These resources at PCN are group into two catagories:
- File sharing known as \\Files.physics.purdue.edu\Software\Windows
- Print sharing known as \\Spool.physics.purdue.edu
You can find these shares located under the Network Neighborhood icon on your Windows NT desktop. Simply double-click on the icon to open it up and view the contents. The many other icons are Windows computers linked to the PCN network and on the PCN domain.
On the Files share are located all the software PCN uses on a continuous basis. These titles range from simple web browsers and multimedia to software updates and compilers. Many of the resources are grouped together under sub-directories. The software available is up to date with the current versions available. The Printing share contains all the centralized printing resources available to Physics. It simply contains all the links to all the printers.
