General E-mail Settings
Use of Purdue E-mail services is not restricted to a list of “approved” E-mail clients. Purdue uses standardized E-mail protocols that are usable on almost any E-mail reader. Below are a list of these standard settings.
Purdue Exchange Server Setup
For E-mail clients that can use Exchange Mail Protocol:
- Incoming Server Type: Exchange
- Username: Your OnePurdue career account username
- Password: Your OnePurdue career account password
- Domain: onepurdue
- Domain\Username: onepurdue\<career account username>
You can also use IMAP services with a Purdue Exchange email:
- Incoming Server Type: IMAP
- Mail Server Name: owa.purdue.edu
- Incoming Encryption: TLS, port 110
- Alternative Incoming Encryption Port: SSL, 995
Outgoing Mail Servers is the same for all types of E-mail clients:
- Outgoing Server Name: smtp.purdue.edu
- Authentication Type: Plain
- Outgoing Encryption: TLS, port 587
- Alternative Outgoing Encryption: SSL, 465
- Outgoing Authentication On/Off: On
- Outgoing Authentication Type: Password
MyMail Server Setup
- Username: Your OnePurdue career account username
- Password: Your OnePurdue career account password
- Incoming Server Type: IMAP
- Incoming Mail Server Name:mymail.purdue.edu
- Incoming Encryption Type: SSL, port 143
- Alternative Incoming Encryption Type: TLS, port 993
- Outgoing Server Name: smtp.purdue.edu
- Outgoing Encryption: TLS, port 587
- Alternative Outgoing Encryption: SSL, 465
- Outgoing Authentication On/Off: On
- Outgoing Authentication Type: Password
