Setting Up Email in Outlook

In general, anyone who is not an undergraduate student can have an exchange account. To set up an exchange account follow this link.

To connect to a physics mail:

1. Open Outlook
2. If prompted, select Yes you would like to configure an email account. If you are not prompted: when Outlook opens select »Tools »Account Settings »New
3. Enter your Name, Email address (which should be: [your username]@physics.purdue.edu), and your password.

5. Check the Manual Configuration box, click Next
6. Select Internet Email, click Next
7. select Account Type: » IMAP
8. Incoming mail server: » mail.physics.purdue.edu
9. Outgoing mail server: » mail.physics.purdue.edu
10. Enter your user name and password, check Remember Password if you choose
11. Check box next to Require logon using …
12. 
13. Click on More Settings…
14. Click on Outgoing Server, check box next to My outgoing server (SMTP)…

16. Click on the Advanced
17. Set the following: set both to use SSL encryption, Incoming server: 993, Outgoing Server: 25
18. 
19. Click OK
20. Click Next
21. Click Finish
