Fermilab has some modest on-site accomodation that is very cost effective. Requests can be made by conference participants using the Online Fermilab Housing Request form at http://fess.fnal.gov/accommodations/housing_request.html or by sending e-mail to housing@fnal.gov.
When filling out the online form, use "INFIERI Workshop" as the experiment and enter zeros for the Fermilab ID.
One advantage of on-site accommodation is that the Frontier Pub is within easy walking (or staggering) distance.
The Western Suburbs of Chicago, where Fermilab is located, does not offer convenient access to the Fermilab site by way of public transportation. Renting a car is highly recommended unless you will be using Fermilab on-site housing facilities. There are several car rental services that are available at the O'Hare airport.
Driving directions from the airport to Fermilab via the Chicago tollway system are available here.
You will most likely have to drive through the cash lanes at the tolls unless you have (for some bizarre reason) an I-Pass.
We recommend the West Suburban Limousine service rather than hiring a taxi for transportation between the airport and Fermilab. The contact information and current pricing is available here.
